In the United States, iPhone users have reported that TikTok requests a passcode, sparking a flurry of discussions on the well-known social media platform Reddit.

The sudden request for a passcode to access the app has raised concerns among users about the potential for personal data collection.

TikTok has previously faced allegations of tracking users’ online behaviour, preferences, and dislikes.

The fear is that the Chinese video-sharing platform could gather data from users’ devices by requesting iPhone passcodes.

According to PCMag, Tiktok has reported one of the bugs is likely to have caused the passcode issue.

TikTok has added, “The iOS passcode prompt was a bug resulting from an update we’ve begun to introduce in the US in partnership with our US security partner. This issue impacted a small number of people, we’ve resolved it, and people won’t see the prompt going forward,” a TikTok spokesperson tells PCMag.

While some believe this could be due to a technical glitch in the TikTok app, others have found that updating to the latest version resolves the issue.

However, several users have reported that the problem persists after updating the app.
