Microsoft Seeing App (Microsoft)

Microsoft has announced on Monday that it is bringing its Seeing AI app to Android users. There are plans to expand its functionality to 36 languages by the end of the year, and it is now accessible on the Google Play Store in 18 languages.

The programme can scan papers and currencies, explain the environment, and assist those who are blind or have impaired eyesight.

Seeing AI is a tool that describes the surroundings and is intended to assist blind and low-vision individuals with activities including reading mail, recognising objects, and hearing descriptions of images.

After pointing the camera on their phone and taking a photo, users will hear a description.

The app is divided into many sections for different kinds of work. For instance, the Short Text feature will read aloud text as soon as it is captured on camera.

It will detect people nearby using the People function. Additionally, money will be identified using the Currency function.

With the help of the Scenes function, you can glide your finger around the screen to hear the positions of various items and hear a description of the scene you’ve captured. Seeing AI is also capable of colour identification and handwritten word reading.

“There are over 3 billion active Android users worldwide, and bringing Seeing AI to this platform will provide so many more people in the blind and low vision community the ability to utilize this technology in their everyday lives,” Seeing AI’s founder Saqib Shaikh said in a blog post.
