There are indications that Apple is preparing to introduce a selection of vision-based products soon.

By 2027, we might see the tech giant from Cupertino unveil smart glasses and AirPods with integrated cameras.

But that’s not all—Apple also plans to release an Apple Vision headset next year, along with the second-generation Apple Vision Pro in 2026.

These long-rumoured and highly anticipated devices have the potential to change the way we interact with both the physical and digital worlds.

With other companies already making strides in augmented reality (AR) and smart glasses, Apple’s entrance into this space could redefine the future of AR wearables.

In a post on Bloomberg, Mark Gurman added: “Into 2027, the team is considering launching smart glasses on par with the Meta Ray-Bans, as well as AirPods with cameras. The idea is to salvage the billions of dollars spent on the Vision Pro’s visual intelligence technology, which can scan the environment around a user and supply useful data”.

The success of the Apple Watch and AirPods has helped Apple secure its place at the forefront of the wearables market.

He further continued: “We’ll get a taste of this with an upcoming visual intelligence feature on the iPhone 16, but the plan is to bring the Vision Pro’s ability to understand its surroundings to more products”.

Adding smart glasses and AirPods with cameras will definitely boost Apple’s reputation and broaden its wearables ecosystem.

These devices are likely to offer more than just basic AR functionality, seamlessly blending into users’ everyday lives, whether for navigation or creating immersive content.

For years, Apple has led the market in devices designed for our pockets, wrists, and desks. However, it has encountered significant challenges in achieving similar success in other vital sectors: cars, wearable tech, and home devices.

After investing billions in a car initiative that it discontinued this year, Apple’s Vision Pro has not yet proven that face-worn technology can succeed significantly. In contrast, its home products have had varied success.

Even though the HomePod and Apple TV have their supporters, they struggle to keep up with rival offerings.

Apple’s biggest hurdle right now is its struggle to launch new technology quickly. It is competing with a Meta product using something that could take years to release.

Furthermore, Apple continues to play catch-up in the realm of artificial intelligence.
